A much bigger problem for now, that BlackBerry doesn't seem to be doing anything about, is that their payment system is broken which makes it impossible for lots of people to buy any apps. That's the reason why your apps don't sell. Not because there are no longer any BB10 users willing to buy apps, but because the BBW store rejects their payments. The problem affects both credit card payments and Paypal payments. Reported to BlackBerry months ago, still not fixed. There are lots of people on Crackberry and other sites complaining that they can't buy any apps because their credit cards and/or their Paypal account aren't accepted in BBW.

Hi, I have a questions about this. I already have e Blackberry Key one [removed] with a subscription from Belwinkel [removed] (it is Dutch). And I indeed have problems with buying apps. And I really need one today for my work. Do you know what I can do?? Please help me Embarassed

AFAIK the Android smartphones from BB (including the keyone) use Google Play for apps, and therefore also Google's payment system. The devices ran by BB's operating systems are the only ones with suffer from the broken system.

When the store gets closed (which will happen only on Jan 1, 2020, so why worry about it today?) everyone will be able to upload their apps anywhere else.

I doubt only few will bother to upload their apps and i mean only maybe a few dozens developers. Future is very bleak for BB10 after 2019 and actually worser than Symbian due to its close system.

No one knows how many will do it. I said that it is possible, so it only depends on developers whether to do it or not. Technically, it doesn't differ much from Symbian.

Symbian wasn't an open system, either, and it required apps to be signed, too. And when developer certificates expired, it wasn't even possible to release self-signed apps. The only difference was that it got hacked which allowed it to run unsigned apps on devices flashed with such a hacked OS.

We don't know how things will look with BB10. Maybe until then someone will manage to hack it (or at least unlock the bootlader so that unsigned, modified OS versions could be flashed) or maybe BlackBerry will unlock it when they end supporting it.

They must be under some pressure from existing faithful BBOS and BB10 users if they decided to continue supporting it until 2020, whereas they ended suport for the Priv two years after releasing it.
